FlatGrad is a student marketplace built on trust, safety, and community. These Community Guidelines help keep it that way. They apply to everyone—sellers, buyers, and all community members. By using FlatGrad, you agree to follow these guidelines.

Respect Others

Be kind, professional, and respectful to everyone in the FlatGrad community.

• No harassment, bullying, threats, or stalking
• No hate speech or discrimination based on race, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or sexual orientation
• No impersonation or misrepresentation of identity
• No doxxing (sharing private information without consent)
• No aggressive or abusive language

Honest Listings

Keep listings accurate, truthful, and lawful. Your reputation depends on it.

• Describe items accurately – condition, age, damage, flaws
• Use real photos that show the actual item or housing
• Price items fairly – no inflated prices or bait-and-switch tactics
• Don't post duplicate listings or spam
• Respect landlord approval and housing laws for subleases
• No fake reviews or ratings

Safe Transactions

Meet safely and verify before you buy. FlatGrad does not conduct background checks.

• Meet in public, well-lit locations (never alone)
• Tell a trusted friend where you're going
• Verify the item before paying
• Never wire money or prepay without verification
• Trust your instincts – if something feels off, walk away
• Report suspicious activity to FlatGrad immediately

Illegal & Prohibited Items

• Drugs, weapons, explosives, or dangerous items
• Stolen property or goods obtained illegally
• Counterfeit or fake branded items
• Fake IDs or fraudulent documents
• Adult or sexually explicit content
• Academic dishonesty services (essays, homework, cheating)
• Anything that violates federal, state, or local law

Platform Integrity

Help keep FlatGrad trustworthy and secure.

• No multiple accounts without permission
• No bots, scrapers, or automated data harvesting
• No hacking, phishing, malware, or interference with the Platform
• No spam or misleading content
• No circumventing account suspensions or enforcement actions

Enforcement: What Happens if You Violate Guidelines

We take violations seriously. Depending on severity, FlatGrad may:

• Remove your listing or content
• Issue a warning
• Temporarily suspend your account
• Permanently ban your account
• Report you to law enforcement (for illegal activity)

No refunds: If your account is terminated for violating guidelines, you forfeit any unused account credits.

How to Report Violations

If you see something wrong, report it:

• Report a scam, fraud, or suspicious listing
• Report harassment, hate speech, or abuse
• Report illegal items or activity
• Report counterfeit or stolen goods

Include details and any evidence. We investigate all reports.

Important Disclaimer

FlatGrad provides the platform, but we can't verify every item, every housing listing, or every user. You assume risk when:

• Meeting users in person
• Buying items (condition, authenticity, legality)
• Renting housing (compliance with laws, landlord approval)
• Any transactions between users

FlatGrad is not liable for disputes, fraud, harm, or incidents involving users. Stay safe and trust your instincts.
